There are whispers that Toni Braxton is going to become a merry murderess when she returns to Broadway.
According to ThatGrapeJuice.net, the singer will take on the role of Roxie Hart in Chicago next year. No deal for the gig has been finalized at this time, but Toni is supposedly in talks to sign a lucrative deal for the job.
Toni's fan website, ToniBraxtonNet.com, first hinted that the sultry siren will be returning to Broadway. "Toni Braxton will be returning to Broadway in the hit musicalChicago," the site tweeted August 14. "Not sure which character she is set to play. But TBN will have details."
This will be Toni's third trip to Broadway. In the past she starred as Belle in Disney's Beauty and The Beast in 1998; she also played the title role in Disney's Aida.
TheYBF.com reports that The Ambassador Theater, whereChicago will supposedly be playing, is already taking calls from Broadway buffs looking for advance tickets. The venue, however, has not said one way or the other where there is any weight to the rumors.
"Of course, management won't confirm nor deny, which leads me to believe that it's true," a source said. "It's the talk of the theater."
There's also word that Toni and her Keri Lewis, her estranged husband, took an after-hours tour of the venue.
